Update from the MDA President

July 18, 2022
Dear MDA Member,
Over the last 2+ years, our profession has encountered many challenges in the face of a pandemic. The vast amount of information in regard to running a practice and providing safe, quality dentistry during COVID-19 had everyone adjusting to different
conditions to provide oral health care. Our members and their patients were well served with the MDA’s Pathway and Interim IPC Guidance for Patient Care during the Covid-19 Response [currently still in effect].
But as the province, country and the world learns to live with this ever-mutating virus, and we transition to a “new normal”, I am pleased to share with you the MDA’s Infection Prevention and Control Practices manual.
Through the hard work of a dedicated Infection Prevention and Control Committee, a review subcommittee and a number of focus groups, the manual has received the Board’s approval and will come into effect on January 2, 2023.
Adherence to the document will:
- promote public trust and knowledge
- protect the health of patients and staff
- prevent the spread of viruses and diseases
- update dental offices’ infection control practices
- uphold the reputation of your dental office by following the most up to date IPC practices
The IPC Practices document will be available on the Manitoba Dental Association website at www.manitobadentist.ca
Sincerely,
Dr. Tom Colina, DMD
President & Board Chair
