Becoming Registered and Licensed in ManitobaProcess Overview

Registration and Licensing Process*

Duration: Up to 3 years
Cost: Up to $64,600  

Below is a process overview. You will learn more about each step as you read through this website.

STEP 1: DSATP (Dental Specialty Assessment and Training Program) 

  • Choose a Dental Institution that offers the DSATP
  • Complete the DSATP Application Form: $250 application fee (non-refundable)
  • Upon acceptance of your DSATP Application Form, submit your admissions deposit: $2000 - $10,000 deposit (varies depending on institution)
  • Complete the DSATP:
    Cost: Up to $55,000 (includes your admissions deposit)
    Duration: 3 – 12 months (the institution will assess you to determine your required duration)

STEP 2: NDSE (National Dental Specialty Examination)

Complete the NDSE Application Form: $500 application fee (non-refundable)  
Write the NDSE: $5,500 exam fee

STEP 3: Important MDA Registration Information and Applications

Apply to become registered and licensed by MDA:

  • Complete a Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Program   
  • Complete a Jurisprudence and Ethics program
  • Gather required documents 
  • Complete the MDA Dental Specialist: Application for Registration and Licence Form
  • Pay the Registration fee: $200  
  • Pay the Licence fee: $3,150
