Re:       CPR Requirement

Given the exceptional circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Manitoba Dental Association Board of Directors passed a motion allowing for online CPR certification including BLS, ACLS and PALS as an alternative to in-person training. Members may wish to contact their usual resuscitation instructors for additional guidance on what they or others may offer for certification through on-line learning.

Dentists must exercise their professional judgment and follow current Public Health Orders if arranging in-person training for themselves or their staff.  Training agencies that provide in-person training must have policies and processes in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Regardless of the modalities of training, it is important to remember that the knowledge and skills of resuscitation have been shown to require review every few months.   Staff workshops and peer to peer learning are excellent ways to ensure that you and your team keep up to date on an ongoing basis.

Online courses will only be accepted until December 31, 2021.  Regardless of their certification length these will not be considered valid by the Manitoba Dental Association beyond 1 year from the course date.   We also strongly recommend that members arrange in person skills-assessment training as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic situation safely allows.
