Registered Dental Assistants

Registered dental assistants are an integral member of the oral health team, communicating and collaborating with all oral health professionals in the delivery of patient-centred care.

Graduates of an accredited level II registered dental assisting program who have successfully completed the National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) written exam are eligible for certification with the Manitoba Dental Association.

Graduates from a non-accredited level II registered dental assisting programs must successfully complete both the written and clinical portions of the NDAEB exam to be eligible for certification with the Manitoba Dental Association.

As multi-skilled professionals, registered dental assistants possess a diverse knowledge base to apply clinical skills and administrative principles through the delegation of duties by a practicing dentist. The registered dental assistant will perform, to the highest standards, only those duties as outlined in licensing/certifying and regulating legislation within Manitoba. Registered dental assistants maintain technical competence through advanced or continuing education.
